Pune 30th August 2023: The irrigation department has confirmed that the Warasgaon Dam has been filled upto 100% of its capacity and the water discharge from the dam is likely to be started soon. However, the officials have also clarified that the decision to start discharge will be taken based on the rainfall reported in the catchment areas.

It may be noted that the district has received less rainfall this year. As a result, the four dams in Khadakwasla cluster that supply water to Pune have reported less storage compared to last year. According to the official data, the accumulative water storage in the four dams of Khadakwasla storage was reported 94.57% (27.57 TMC) compared to 99.83% (29.10 TMC) reported on the same day last year.

This include 59.60% (1.18 TMC) storage at Khadakwasla Dam, 100% (10.65 TMC) at Panshet Dam, 99.77% (12.79 TMC) at Warasgaon Dam and 79.62% (2.95 TMC) at Temghar Dam. The Indian Meteorological Department had issued a Yellow Alert for Pune district for today.
