IMD Issues Yellow Alert For Pune And Several Other Districts In Maharashtra

Pune 30th August 2023: The Pune city and adjoining areas are likely to receive a good rainfall after a long break on Wednesday as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the district for today. According to IMD, ‘Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds (30-40kmph) at one or two places’ is likely to be reported in Pune district today. The IMD has predicted favourable conditions for the state in the following week.

However, there is no alert for the Pune district for the next two days. According to IMD, the district is likely to witness ‘Light to moderate rain or Thundershowers’ for the next three days. Along with Pune, the yellow alert has been also issued for several other districts in the state for today including Raigad, Ratnagiri Ahmednagar, Satara, Sangli, Solapur, Beed, Nanded, Latur and Osmanabad.

It may be noted the majority of the districts in Maharashtra have reported below normal rainfall so far this year. As a result, the farmers are suffering from a crisis and the state government is likely to announce drought in some districts as the demand is increasing.
