Pune: Strict Punishment Including Dismissal From Service For PMPML Drivers Who Jump Signals, Warns CMD
Pune 25th August 2023: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) officials have warned of strict action against the drivers who jump signals. The newly appointed Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Sachchindra Pratap Singh has said that drivers who jump signals will face strict punishment including dismissal from service.
Sing told Time of India that the drivers will be punished severely if charges against them are found true. This comes after an incident of accident reported in the city where a woman had lost her life after she was hit by a PMPML bus that jumped signal on the road. The PMPML has already started several initiatives to collect feedback about the service from commuters including complaints related to driver’s behaviour.
According to officials, the number of accidents reported with the PMPML is more with the buses owned by the contractors. The PMPML has already planned training with the Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT) for drivers. The officials have also been asked to identify accident-prone areas in the city so that necessary steps can be taken in coordination with the other concerned authorities.
