With 97 Cases Reported This Year, Pune Division Ranks Second In Bribery Cases In Maharashtra

Pune 22nd August 2023: While the number of corruption cases in Maharashtra have increased this year, Pune division has ranked second in the number of total cases reported till August. According to officials, Nashik has recorded the highest number of bribery cases with 109 cases reported till August 20 this year followed by Pune with 97 cases recorded so far.

The officials have recorded a 13% increase in the number of bribery cases in the state. Last year, a total of 481 cases related to bribery were reported in the state till August while the number rose to 545 this year. According to officials, Aurangabad division has recorded 93 bribery cases this year followed by 63 cases reported in Thane division, 59 in Amravati division, 56 in Nagpur division, 45 in Nanded division and 23 cases reported in Mumbai division.

It may be noted that the Pune division of Anti Corruption Bureau consists of Pune, Sangli, Satara, Kolhapur and Solapur districts. A total of 139 accused have been arrested in 97 corruption cases reported in Pune this year. According to ACB officials, the highest number of bribery cases were reported in the revenue department of the state followed by police department. A total of 147 bribery cases were reported in revenue department while 97 cases were reported in the Police department of Maharashtra.
