Pune, 19th August 2023: In a notable development, the traffic police have extended the privilege of parking not only to four-wheelers but also to two-wheelers along Karve Road, specifically in the stretch between Khandujibaba Chowk and Dasbhuja Ganpati Chowk.

The initiative comes in response to demands by various stakeholders, including the Karve Road Traders Association led by President Omprakash Ranka, Ajit Sangle, and Maharashtra Navnirman Janadhikar Sena President Hemant Sambhus, who had collectively advocated for such a provision. The call for permission to allow parking on this thoroughfare had garnered attention.

Acknowledging the concerns raised, Pune’s Guardian Minister, Chandrakant Patil, orchestrated a meeting involving key representatives from the Municipal Corporation and the Police. Subsequently, the decision was made to authorize parking on Karve Road. Initially confined to four-wheelers, this permission has been extended to encompass two-wheelers as well, as confirmed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Vijayakumar Magar.

The arrangement for parking is delineated as follows:

  • A span of 10 meters has been allocated for parking in front of the Bank of Maharashtra, spanning from Rasshala Chowk to Swatantra Chowk.
  • A 15-meter stretch is designated for parking between Bhagyashree Jewelers and Chaitanya Nagri Society.
  • Parking extends across 20 meters from Union Bank to Swapnanagari Society.
  • For motorcycle parking, 15 meters have been marked from Siddheshwar Medical to Kohinoor Wines and an additional 15 meters from Ganesh Chamber, Rayban Showroom to Amar Hardware.
  • While traveling from Swatriya Chowk to Rasshala Chowk, a 5-meter space adjacent to Kalyan Jewelers leading to the Go-Colors Shop has been allocated for parking.
  • A combined 25-meter zone is designated for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers from Sarathi Hotel to Prime Furniture Showroom, including the vicinity of Open House next to Jagannath Tarte Marg.
  • Lastly, an allocation of 10 meters is reserved for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers from Bhonde Colony Lane to Kachare Path.

The allowance for two-wheeler parking, an extension of the previous authorization for four-wheelers, aims to enhance accessibility and convenience for commuters along this bustling route.
