Bomb Threat On Delhi-Pune Flight Delays Take Off By Almost 8 Hours
Pune 18th August 2023: The Delhi-Pune Vistara flight that was deboarded after a threat call about a bomb in the aircraft was delayed by almost 8 hours after it was taken to an isolation bay by the security agencies. The flight was supposed to take off from Delhi Airport at 8:30 am on Friday but it left at 4:22 pm following the issue. Over 100 passengers who were travelling in the flight remained stranded at the Airport during this period.
It may be noted that the departure of Vistara UK 971 flight was halted at the Delhi Airport after a threat call was received at around 7:30 am today about a bomb in the aircraft. All the luggage and passengers on the flight were deboarded immediately and security agencies including CISF and other units deployed at the Delhi Airport were roped in to inspect the aircraft. However, after a detailed inspection the security agencies found nothing suspicious and the aircraft was given clearance to take off at around 2:15 pm.
According to officials, the caller said that three bombs have been placed in the flight number UK 971 that was parked at gate number 42 and they will explode in an hour’s period. Immediately after the alert, Bomb Threat Assessment Committee was convened as per the standard procedure and necessary equipment including sniffer dogs and equipment to detect bombs were roped in the service.
However, since nothing suspicious was found the flight was allowed to take off but almost after 8 hours. Meanwhile the passebgers who were supposed to board the flight remained stranded and they were provided refreshment by the airline staff during this period while trying to minimise their inconvenience.
