Pune: Teacher Dies By Suicide For Failing To Retain Students In School

Pune 9th August 2023 : In a tragic incident reported in a village located Daund, a 45-year-old teacher allegedly died by suicide for failing to retain students in a school. The deceased identified as Arvind Dnyaneshwar Deokar was posted to the school located at Home Vasti, near Javjibuvachi wadi village in Daund around one and a half month ago.

The school run by Zila Parishad had only 10 students whe he was transferred there. However, soon after few days the parents of these students admitted them to other school after the teacher asked the students to clean up the school in absence of other staff to do it.

Deokar allegedly consumed pesticide on August 3 by blaming himself for failing to retain the students. According to reports, before consuming the pesticide he sent a WhatsApp message to a relative in which he explained the reason.

The parents of these students had objected to him asking to clean the school on the next day by visiting the teacher. He tried to convince them the reason but in the next few days nine out of ten students withdrew their admission and the only student who remained also stopped coming to the school.

Deokar was rushed to the hospital in Uruli Kanchan for treatment but as his health deteriorated he was shifted to another hospital in the city where he died on August 8.
