Pune: Teenager Murders Elderly Woman While Looting Valuables To Raise Funds For Girlfriend’s Bail
Pimpri, 8th August 2023: A shocking incident has come to light in which a juvenile offender robbed an elderly woman of her jewelry and fatally attacked her in order to secure the release of his live-in relationship partner. The accused has been apprehended by the Pimpri police and is set to turn 18 years old tomorrow.
The victim has been identified as Shalubai Rupa Salvi, aged 85, residing near Bhaji Mandai in Pimpri. The complaint in this matter has been lodged by Sunita Bhimrao Kamble, aged 48, a resident of Pimplegurav.
Senior Police Inspector Ram Rajmane provided details about the incident. Salvi, who lived alone in her residence, fell victim to the accused’s crime on July 31. The assailant forcibly entered the house by tampering with the entrance. Tragically, he not only took the life of the elderly woman but also made off with valuables amounting to Rs 1,04,500, including gold and silver ornaments, a mobile phone, and a gas cylinder.
Promptly responding to the complaint, the police initiated an intensive investigation. Valuable leads were gathered regarding the identity of the suspect and other potential juvenile offenders in the vicinity. It was revealed that the accused individual had been evading cops since the time of the incident.
The juvenile offender was observed loitering near Pimpri Bhaji Mandai on Monday. Upon spotting the police, he attempted to flee the scene. However, after a pursuit, he was caught.
It has come to light that the minor perpetrator was residing with his girlfriend, who is currently behind bars for attempted murder. The motive behind the crime appears to have been driven by the need for funds to secure the girlfriend’s release on bail. The accused admitted to his role in the heinous act, which involved the theft of gold ornaments from the victim’s person. The recovered items, including jewelry, a mobile phone, and a cylinder with an estimated worth of Rs 30,400, have been seized as evidence.
The juvenile offender is on the cusp of turning 18 years old. There are cases registered against him at the Pimpri, Yerwada, and Shivajinagar police stations, police said.
