Jammu And Kashmir On High Alert: Two Hybrid Terrorists Apprehended With Weapons Cache

Srinagar, India, 2nd August 2023: According to the police, two individuals identified as Faisal Majeed Ganie and Nurul Kamran Ganie, residents of Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir, were arrested by security forces on Wednesday. They were described as “hybrid terrorists” associated with the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT).

Acting upon receiving a tip-off, the security forces swiftly established a mobile vehicle checkpoint at Azadgunj in the bustling town of Baramulla. When the suspects noticed the checkpoint, they attempted to escape but were apprehended skillfully by the security forces. During a personal search, the authorities discovered one pistol, one pistol magazine, four pistol rounds, and one grenade in their possession. The items were confiscated, and the suspects were immediately taken into custody.

Initial investigations have revealed that these individuals had gathered the weapons and ammunition to carry out terrorist activities in Baramulla town ahead of Independence Day. Hybrid terrorists, in this context, are individuals who execute attacks and then blend back into their everyday lives.
