Pune City Population Likely To Reach 1 Crore In 2047 : PMC Report
Pune 27th July 2023: Due to the rapid urbanization of adjoining areas and increasing opportunities for jobs and businesses in Pune, the city population has been increasing over the last few years. In the latest annual report published by the Pune Municipal Corporation, it has been predicted that the city population is likely to reach 1 Crore by 2047.
According to the population predicted by PMC using ‘geomatrical increase’ method of measuring the population, the city population is likely to reach 1,00,73,088 by 2047. The same is likely to reach 88,58,126 in 2042 and 61,77,472 in 2032.
The PMC officials have shared the predicted population using three methods ‘Incremental Increase’, ‘Geomatrical Increase’ and ‘Arithmetical Increase’. According to the official data, the population predicted using Incremental Increase method is likely to reach 59,25,447 in 2047, 54,41,212 in 2042 and 45,63,670 in 2032.
Similarly, the population is likely to reach 41,21,663 in 2047 as per the prediction using Arithmetical Increase method, 46,70,797 in 2042 and 41,69,066 in 2032.
According to the official data, the actual population of the city as per the last census conducted in 2011 is 35,56,824. A total of 34 villages have been included in the municipal corporation in the last five years.
