One More Accused Held For Sheltering Two Suspected Terrorists Arrested From Pune
Pune 27th July 2023: The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) that is investigating a case related to the two accused arrested from Pune’s Kothrud for allegedly planning a series of bomb blasts has arrested one more accused in the case. The accused whose identity is not yet released by the ATS officials was arrested for allegedly sheltering the earlier arrested accused during their stay in Pune.
He was detained for questioning by the ATS team on Wednesday and after conducting a detailed enquiry he was arrested late evening on the same day. The ATS team is also searching for the accused who managed to escape from Police custody when the two were arrested by Pune City police.
The ATS team also said that relevant sections of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) have been invoked against the accused in the case. The accused had conducted bomb tests in the forests of Satara, Pune and Kolhapur. The ATS officials have also seized tents used by the accused during their stay in the forest areas.
Earlier it was confirmed that the white powder seized from their posesion was an explosive material and the accused were trained to make bombs. They were planning a series of blasts by allegedly using motorcycles.
It may be noted that the Pune City Police had arrested two accused identifed as Mohammad Yunus Mohammad Saki and Mohammad Imran Mohammad Yusuf Khan from Kothrud. Both accused were in the list of ‘Most Wanted’ of National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with a case related to explosives registered in Rajasthan. One of their associates identified as Shahnawaz who managed to escape from Police custody when the accused were being taken for house search in Pune’s Kondhwa is absconding in the case.
