Pune: Khadakwasla Dam Filled Upto 97% Of Its Capacity, Water Discharge Into Mutha River To Again Start From Today

Pune 27th July 2023: The district administration has appealed the citizens living near Mutha river to be on alert as the water discharge from Khadakwasla Dam into river will again start from today following continuous rainfall reported in the catchment area in the last few hours.

According to officials, 856 cusescs of water discharge from Khadakwasla dam will be started between 4 pm and 6 pm today. The citizens have been advised to remove their animals and any material kept inside the river basin.

Earlier on Wednesday the administration had stopped the water discharge as the rainfall activity in the catchment area was reduced. Before that the discharge was increased upto 3,424 cusescs on Tuesday.

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for the Pune district for today. According to IMD officials, the district is likely to witness ‘extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places in ghat areas’ of Pune district on July 27. IMD has also issued an orange alert for the district for the next three days.
