Mumbai, 27th July 2023: In a significant move, MahaRERA has declared that it will be mandatory for developers to prominently display the MahaRERA number and QR code on all advertisements related to housing projects, including websites, starting from August 1. Failure to comply with this directive will result in fines of up to Rs 50,000 for developers.

If the non-compliance persists for 10 days and the QR code is not adequately printed, appropriate action will be taken as per the rules, considering it a “continuing breach of instructions.”

Previously, individuals had to remember the RERA number, visit the MahaRERA website, and search for the details of the desired project. With the implementation of QR codes, all relevant project information will be available with just one click, eliminating the need to remember any numbers. MahaRERA urges customers to cooperate in the successful implementation of this far-reaching decision.

MahaRERA had already begun issuing QR codes for newly registered housing projects in March. Special efforts were made to make the QR code available for both new and existing projects, and now its full implementation will commence from 1st August.

Developers have been utilizing various media platforms such as newspapers, electronic media, Instagram, Twitter, WhatsApp, etc., to promote their project features and attract maximum investments. As per the new regulations, it is mandatory to print the MahaRERA number and MahaRERA website on all advertisements using any medium. Additionally, from August 1, it has become compulsory to display and print the QR code as well.

With the inclusion of QR codes in advertisements, potential homebuyers will have easy access to vital project information with just a single click. Any homebuyer or real estate investor requires a range of details about a particular project before making a decision. The QR code will provide comprehensive information, including the project’s name, developer’s name, expected completion date, registration date, existence of any complaints against the project, project approvals, any post-approval plan modifications, and project registration renewal status. This user-friendly feature will aid customers in making informed decisions regarding their investment in housing projects.
