Pune: Man Heading Towards Police Station To Lodge Complaint For Stolen Mobile Phone Loses His Bike To Another Thief, Case Registered
Pune 26th July 2023: In a shocking incident reported in Bhosari on July 20, a man was looted of his mobile phone and bike in just a span of few minutes. One of the accused first fled with his mobile phone on pretext of calling home and later when he was heading towards police station to lodge complaint about stolen mobile phone, the another accused ran away with his bike on pretext of helping him reach police station and lodge complaint in the matter.
According to police, an unidentified person approached the complainant seeking help to call his home and claimed that he does not have his own mobile phone. The complainant with good intention gave him his mobile phone to call family members but the one seeking help turned out to be a thief as he ran away with the mobile phone from the spot.
The problem did not end here as the complainant’s bike was also stolen by another accused on pretext of helping him lodge a complaint and get help from police to trace his stolen mobile phone. According to police, the victim who was unaware of the locality approached a person standing nearby to find the address of local police station. The man standing there assured him of helping in lodging a complaint and said that he knows several policemen at the local police station.
In return he asked the complainant to get a cigarette for him. However, as the complainant reached nearby shop to get a cigarette the accused ran away his bike.
A case in this regard has been registered at Bhosari Police Station under sections 406 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police have booked two unidentified men in the case. Further investigation in the matter is underway.
