Pune: Water Discharge From Khadakwasla Dam Increased To 2568 Cusescs

Pune, 25th July 2023: Following continuous rainfall reported in the catchment areas and increasing water levels in the dams, the administration has again increased the water discharge from Khadakwasla dam into Mutha river on Wednesday. The water discharge was increased to 2,568 cusescs from 7 am on Wednesday, said officials.

Citizens living in low lying areas have been advised to take precautions as the decision on further increase in discharge is likely to be taken if heavy rainfall continues in the catchment areas. According to official data, the collective storage in the four dams Khadakwasla, Warasgaon, Panshet and Temghar has reached upto 19.12 TMC and the dams have been filled upto 65.58% of their capacity.

However, the water storage in these dams is still less compared to last as 21.15 TMC storage was recorded last year and the dams were filled upto 72.57% of their capacity. The IMD has issued Red alert for the ghat areas in Pune district for July 26 and 27 while orange alert has been issued for July 28 and 29.
