Over 39% Consumers In Pune Division Still Prefer To Pay Their Electricity Bills Offline, MSEDCL Appeals Them To Make Online Payment

Pune 25th July 2023 : The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Corporation Ltd (MSEDCL) has appealed the consumers to make online payment of their bills as the recent data revealed that over 39% of the consumers in Pune divsion are still making offline payments. According to officials, over 29% consumers in Pune, 56% in Kolhapur and 48% in Baramati region of the MSEDCL have made offline payment of their electricity bills in June.

The official data reveals that over 47.86 lakh consumers have paid their electricity bills in Pune division in June. Of this, 29.40 lakh consumers have paid their bills online while remaining 39% preferred to pay their bills offline. The offline payment option not only increases the work of consumers but it also affects the MSEDCL as a large number of cheque bounce cases are also reported.

According to MSEDCL officials, a total of 12,836 cases of cheque bounce were reported in the division last month. The consumers are fined for such incidents.

“Paying the electricity bill from home is now possible and it can lead to savings in both time and money. The MSEDCL provides 3.78% discount in the electricity bills to the consumers who make their payments on time, use online mode of payment and opt for ‘Go Green’ scheme” Anikush Nale, Regional Director of the Pune Division of MSEDCL said.
