Pune, 25th July 2023: Commuters were left frustrated as the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) faced a major technical snag on Tuesday, rendering its ticketing services inaccessible on both the official website and application.

The untimely glitch coincided with the crucial tatkal booking hours, throwing travel plans of many into disarray. The tatkal booking for AC class (2A/3A/CC/EC/3E) was slated to begin at 10 am, while the non-AC class (SL/FC/2S) was scheduled for 11 am.

An IRCTC official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, attributed the disruption to unspecified technical reasons. However, they assured the public that the competent technical team at the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) was already hard at work, striving to rectify the issue.

In the wake of the service outage, the official suggested that passengers explore alternative avenues for securing tickets. Other B2C players like Amazon, Makemytrip, and similar platforms were suggested as viable options for booking railway tickets.
