Kondhwa, 25th July 2023: The Assistant Administrative Officer of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Education Department (Primary Section) has issued an order for the immediate closure of Taqwa Islamic School in Kondhwa. The order states that the school has been operating without the necessary permissions from the government, deputy director of education, and education officer of Zilla Parishad, rendering it illegal.

The decision to shut down the school comes under the purview of the Right to Child Education Act of 2009, which stipulates that running an educational institution without proper authorization is a punishable offense. As per Section 18(5) of the Act, the violation carries a penalty of Rs one lakh. Moreover, if the fine is not paid promptly, an additional fine of Rs 10,000 per day will be levied.

The lack of official recognition has not only left the school vulnerable to punitive measures, but it has also adversely affected the students and their parents. With the school being unapproved, students’ education has been compromised, and parents feel cheated by the administration.

The order mandates the immediate closure of Taqwa Islamic School, along with directions to initiate a criminal case against those responsible for operating the unlicensed institution.

The Assistant Administrative Officer has also made it clear that if the school fails to comply with the shutdown order, a proposal seeking further action will be forwarded to the higher authorities, indicating the seriousness of the situation.
