Pune: Easy Pay Company Fraud Amounting To Rs 3.5 Crore; Second Accused Arrested
Pune, 24th July 2023: A significant fraud case involving Easy Pay Pvt Ltd, an online financial service provider, has resulted in the swindling of Rs 3.5 crores from 65 representatives across the country. The Pune Police’s Cyber Crime Branch arrested one individual from West Bengal a few days ago, and now, they have apprehended another accused from the Shivajinagar area.
The latest arrest is Chhotu, also known as Eijaz Alam Jiwaul Ansari, a 28-year-old resident of Bihar. The previous arrest was of Ankit Kumar Ashok Pandey, a 20-year-old individual from Nawada, Bihar.
Easy Pay Company, with its office in the Yerwada area, provides online payment facilities. The company operates through authorized representatives (agents) nationwide. Unfortunately, 65 of these representatives were involved in a collusion, resulting in the company being defrauded of an astonishing amount—Rs 3 crore 52 lakh 70 thousand. Prompt action was taken by the company management, and a complaint was lodged with the Cyber Police Station in Shivajinagar.
The Cyber Police launched a technical investigation, which led them to the whereabouts of the first accused, Pandey, in Delhi. Following the investigation, he was successfully apprehended by the authorities.
Subsequently, information was received by the police team indicating the presence of the second accused, Chhotu, in the Shivajinagar area. Acting swiftly, the team set up a trap and managed to arrest him as well.
The investigation team included Senior Police Inspector Meenal Supe-Patil, Sub-Inspector Tushar Bhosale and Rajkumar Jaba, Nilesh Landge, Shahrukh Sheikh, Kiran Jamdade, Babasaheb Karale, and Anandrao Bhandalkar.
