ATS To Investigate Case Involving Two ‘Most Wanted’ Men Arrested By Pune Police From Kothrud

Pune 23rd July 2023: The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Maharashtra will now investigate the case involving arrest of two men by Pune City police who were later revealed as ‘most wanted’ by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in terror case. The arrested accused were earlier interrogated by the NIA team and it was revealed that they were planning to carry out explosions using planted bikes.

According to reports, both accused were handed over to ATS for further investigation. It may be noted that the Pune police patrolling team had arrested the accused identified as Mohammad Yunus Mohammad Yaku Saki (25) and Mohammad Imran Mohammad Yusuf Khan, both residents of Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh from Kothrud area on suspicion of bike thieves.

However, the details later revealed that both were wanted by NIA in a terror case registered at Chittorgarh, Rajasthan and they had a reward of Rs 5 lakh each on their name. One of the three suspects nabbed by police managed to escape while they were being taken to Kondhwa to conduct search at their residence. They were residing in Pune on a rented house for over an year and half. Police teams have recovered laptops and some incriminating material during the search.
