Pune: Drunk Traffic Cop Suspended For Unlawful Money Demands!
Pune, 22nd July 2023: A disturbing incident has come to light involving a drunk Assistant Sub Inspector in the Traffic Branch of Pune city police who was found abusing motorists and demanding money from them, disguised as fines. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic Branch), Vijay Kumar Magar, has taken swift action and ordered the suspension of the officer involved.
The suspended officer has been identified as Premchand Bhanudas Vedpathak, serving as an ASI in the Shivajinagar Traffic Division. While on duty in the Model Colony area, Vedpathak was found to have consumed alcohol and demanding money from drivers under the pretext of issuing fines. Several citizens witnessed these actions and recorded them on their mobile phones, which eventually caught the attention of the authorities.
A concerned woman lodged a written complaint with the Shivaji Nagar Traffic Division, highlighting the officer’s misconduct. In response to this serious complaint, DCP Magar acted promptly and ordered the immediate suspension of Vedpathak.
