Pune: Man Impersonating CBI Officer Extorts Rs 5.58 Lakh From Medical Shop Owner, Arrested

Moshi 21st July 2023: In a shocking incident reported in Moshi area of Pimpri Chichwad, the police have booked a 32-year-old person for allegedly extorting money from a medical shop owner by pretending to be a Central Bureau Of Investigation (CBI) officer. The accused identified as Suresh Jasaram Chaudhary (32) a resident of Sant Tukaramnagar, Pimpri has been arrested by police in the case.

According to police, the accused approached the medical shop owner as CBI officer and informed him that the medicines sold by his shop are killing people and he will soon be arrested in the matter. He extorted Rs 5,58,000 from the complainant on different occasions by threatening action on the issue.

However, soon after the complainant realised that he has been cheated he approached police to lodge a complaint in the matter and a case under sections 384, 388, 389, 170 and 171 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at Chinchwad police station. According to police, the accused has also duped other medical shop owners following the same modus. Further investigation in the matter is underway.
