Shirur, 20th July 2023: In a significant setback for farmer Arun Balu Dhome, a gang of thieves struck under the cover of night and made off with 20 crates of tomatoes, causing a staggering loss of approximately 40 thousand rupees based on the current market prices.

The incident came to light when Dhome woke up early in the morning to prepare his produce for the market, only to discover that the tomatoes he had diligently packed in a vehicle for transportation were missing. Distraught by the unfortunate turn of events, he promptly lodged a complaint at the police, seeking justice for his stolen crop.

Dhome, who had invested substantial capital and toiled relentlessly to cultivate the tomato crop under challenging conditions, expressed his disappointment over the theft. After successfully harvesting the tomatoes, he had carefully selected the best produce and loaded 20 crates onto the vehicle, near his residence, at approximately six o’clock in the evening.

Satisfied with the secure placement of the cart and crates, Dhome retired for the night around 11:00 PM, trusting that his hard work would pay off at the market. However, his hopes were dashed when he found the crates missing the next morning. Shocked and dismayed, he immediately alerted the authorities about the theft.
