Pune: Elderly Couple Dies Of Suffocation After Fire Breaks Out Inside Their House At Midnight
Junnar 15th July 2023: In a tragic incident reported in Sablewadi village, Junnar Taluka of Pune, former Sarpanch of the village and his wife were found dead due to suffocation at their house. According to reports, a fire broke out inside the house at the late night.
The deceased have been identified as Maruti Bhau Sable (83) and his wife Putabai Maruti Sable (73). They were residing in Sablewadi village. Due to a power outage on Thursday night, the couple had lit a lamp before going to bed. Unfortunately, the table caught fire due to a lamp which later spread to other household items.
Upon realizing the fire outbreak, both of them tried to escape by going towards bathroom, but the excessive smoke inhalation caused them to collapse and resulted in their death. The incident came to light on Friday morning.
According to reports, the house was locked from inside and as the fire engulfed multiple household items the entire house was filled with smoke. Preliminary investigation suggests that the couple’s death was caused by suffocation due to excessive smoke, said police. Further investigation in the matter is underway.
