Poona Club celebrates Silver Jubilee of Scrabble with a 3 day tournament on 7,8 and 9 July.

Pune, July 14, 2023: Poona Club celebrates Silver Jubilee of Scrabble with a 3 day tournament on 7,8 and 9 July. The game was started in the club in 1998.

Mumbai’s Sherwin Rodrigues emerged winners with 19games at the Poona Club Scrabble tournament which is being organized by Poona Club Ltd and played at Cinema Hall, Poona Club.

Sherwin was ” gibsonised” which means the 2nd placed winner has no chance of overtaking him. For the first time live streaming of players on Table 1 of Group A was done. Games could be viewed all over the world.

A total 44 players participated in this event. They were divided into A and B group with a National rating above 1100 were in Group A and Those with rating below 1100 were in Group B. Sherwin Rodrigues of Mumbai won in Group A with 19 games. While Udayan Grover of Pune and Ishika Shivlinghai of Bengaluru finished second and third position respectively. In Group B Ms Nalini of Bengaluru won the title.

The winner got a trophy. The prizes were given away at the hands of Mr. Ashok Bhandarkar Tournament Director and Neena Shahani Member Pune Scrabble.
