G20 Conference On Crime And Security In The Age Of NFTs, AI & Metaverse Kicks Off In Gurugram

New Delhi, 13th July 2023: The impact of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s momentous visit to the United States is evident in the nation’s keen interest in India’s G20 conference on ‘Crime and security in the age of NFTs, AI & Metaverse,’ which commences in Gurugram on Thursday. Among the participating countries like Israel, Austria, and Singapore, the United States takes the lead with the highest number of panellists.

Remarkably, except for one session, all discussions will feature panellists from the United States. President Joe Biden’s warm response to the Prime Minister’s efforts to elevate the Indo-US strategic partnership was apparent. This camaraderie was showcased through gestures such as allowing the Indian diaspora inside the White House during Prime Minister Modi’s address and the Prime Minister presenting a T-shirt with a slogan coined himself as a gift.

Insiders suggest that the amicable relationship between the two leaders likely played a significant role in encouraging unprecedented participation by the United States. American panellists include the chief adviser for artificial intelligence at the Goddard Space Flight Center, the lead for NASA IT Strategy at NASA Headquarters, the US government’s expert on The Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) is joined by distinguished individuals and organizations dedicated to advancing the field of artificial intelligence. Notably, among the esteemed participants is the global head of cyber security strategy at PayPal, hailing from the United States. These accomplished individuals and their respective affiliations contribute significantly to GPAI’s mission of fostering collaboration and innovation in the realm of artificial intelligence. The session on ‘AI: Challenges, opportunities, and responsible use’ will feature solely American panellists, except one representative from India.

Similarly, Israel will contribute to panellists such as the adviser at the Ministry of Finance, the ex-chair of the Israeli Securities Authority, and others. From India, Alkesh Sharma, the secretary at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, will moderate a session on ‘Internet governance – National responsibility and global commons.’ Additionally, several panellists from renowned institutions like IIT and the Executive Director (Technology and Innovation) of Interpol will lend their expertise, with MM Oberoi moderating a session.

The Ministry of Home Affairs reported that over 900 participants from G20 countries, nine special invitee countries, international organizations, technology leaders, and domain experts from India and around the world will partake in the conference.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will deliver the inaugural address, and he will also launch cyber volunteer squads from seven prestigious educational institutions in India. Furthermore, Shah will inaugurate an exhibition and unveil the conference medallion.

“The conference aims to foster a global partnership to create a secure cyberspace and prioritize cybersecurity concerns. It will serve as a platform for exchanging cutting-edge ideas, sharing knowledge, and networking with visionaries worldwide,” stated the Ministry of Home Affairs.
