Pune, 12th July 2023: In the aftermath of torrential rainfall wreaking havoc in northern India for the past four days, Himachal Pradesh has faced significant damage. Unfortunately, this has resulted in thousands of tourists, including some from Pune, being stranded in the region. As concerns grow due to the lack of communication, the district administration has been actively coordinating with the Himachal Pradesh government to ensure the safety of all individuals amidst the challenging circumstances.

Numerous Pune-based tourists, who had embarked on a Himachal Pradesh expedition, find themselves stuck in various popular destinations like Manali, Kullu, Kasol, and Mandi, due to the relentless downpour. Viththal Banote, the distinguished head of the Disaster Management Department, has been proactive in providing vital information regarding the stranded tourists’ locations and conditions. He emphasized, “Six tourists from Pimpri-Chinchwad, who were en route from Manali to Kullu last Sunday, found themselves trapped in Mandi after the roads became impassable due to heavy rainfall. Cut off from communication for two days, their worried families finally established contact with the district administration, enabling them to reach out to nearby police stations on Tuesday. Consequently, the tourists were able to return home safely.”

Drawing assurance from ongoing collaboration with the Himachal Pradesh government, the district administration assures the families of the stranded tourists that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure their well-being and safety. Hence, there is no need for undue concern.

Meanwhile, a particular group of employees from a prominent company in Magarpatta City, Hadapsar, has encountered a similar predicament. Six individuals find themselves stranded in the picturesque locale of Kasol, Himachal Pradesh, as roads became inaccessible due to the inclement weather. Their last known contact occurred in Kullu last Sunday, and subsequent communication attempts have remained unsuccessful. In response, the district administration is diligently working to establish contact with these stranded tourists, in line with the urgency stressed by Banote.

Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh, Pune District Collector said, “Families anxiously awaiting updates on their loved ones can find solace in the fact that information regarding their safety has reached the Himachal Pradesh government, and the district administration is actively engaged in regular communication. With all individuals reported to be safe, swift and efficient actions are underway to resolve the situation and bring the stranded tourists back home.”

The Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad, in close collaboration with relevant authorities in the Himachal Pradesh government, remains committed to resolving the situation swiftly. They have reassured all parties concerned that once the rainfall subsides and road conditions improve, appropriate actions will be promptly taken to facilitate the safe return of the stranded individuals. Additionally, continuous communication with the Maharashtra Sadan in New Delhi has enabled the state government to initiate efforts to secure suitable accommodations for the stranded tourists from Mumbai.
