Pune: PMC Employee Held For Demanding And Accepting Bribe To Give NOC

Pune 12th July 2023: The Anti-corruption Bureau of the Pune division has nabbed a class III employee of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 to give No Objection Certificate (NOC). The accused was nabbed while accepting the bribe amount from the complainant.

 

According to officials, the accused identified as Umesh Ramaran Kavthekar (54) works as Meter reader with the water supply department of the Pune Municipal Corporation. The complainant who is a plumber by profession had applied for the NOC from water supply department. The accused asked him to pay Rs 25,000 for the same which was supposed to be distributed ong three of his associates.

 

Soon after receiving the complaint the ACB team laid a trap and the accused PMC employee was nabbed while accepting the money. A case in this regard has been registered at Deccan Police Station and police are investigating future in the matter.
