Members Of Mathadi Association Arrested For Threatening And Extorting Money From Businessmen in Pimpri Chinhwad

Wakad 11th July 2023: The Police have arrested five people linked with Mathadi Workers Association of Pimpri Chinchwad for threatening and extorting money from businessmen and their employees in the city. Two seperate cases were registered in this regard with Pimpri Chinchwad Police.

According to Police, the accused identifed as Ramakant alias Bablu Jogdand (30) a resident of Wakad is a president of Mathadi Transport Security Guards Association of Pimpri Chinchwad and he had assaulted the members of a company for recruiting people without his permission. He and his accomplices had also forcefully taken away gold ring and cash from the victims. He had assaulted the victims while they were conducting promotional activities for the company in the area.

The police have arrested four accused identified as Ramakant alias Bablu Jogdand (30), Samir alias Bablu Nazir Shaikh (33), Mayur Balasaheb Sarode (23) and Karan Sadafal Chavan (24) in the matter following a case registered with Wakad Police Station. The accused were sent to police custody till July 11 by the local court.

In another case reported in Kalewadi, the police have arrested city secratery of the Mathadi General Workers Union Transport Association of Pimpri Chinchwad identifed as Suresh Baburao Bansode (37) for allegedly damaging the vehicle and threatening the drivers for transporting the material from the area without consulting him. He had demanded Rs 10,000 extortion for allowing the transport of the vehicles and had forcefully taken away cash from the truck driver.

A case in this regard has been registered at Wakad Police Station against the accused under relevant sections.

The Pimpri Chinchwad Police have appealed the businessmen to report matters related to such people who demand extortion or threaten them. Citizens can lodge their complaint with police through helpline number 020-27352500 or 112. The citizens can also visit the nearby police station to lodge their complaints.
