Pune, 9th July 2023: The notorious Aditya Kamble gang, responsible for creating havoc in the Bharti Vidyapeeth area, is now facing the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) charges. A recent incident of a gang robbery in Ambegaon Khurd has prompted Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr to take action against the gang, marking the 34th such case under MCOCA.

The gang members facing charges include Aditya/Sonya Khandu Kamble (20) of Hanumannagar in Ambegaon Khurd, Sohail Modin Asangi alias Laden (22) of Bholewasti in Indrayaninagar, Amol Tanaji Dhaware (19) of Jambhulwadi in Katraj, and Ajay Vijay Panchal (21) of Naveen Vasahat, Katraj.

The incident involved Aditya/Sonya verbally abusing the manager of a country liquor store, claiming to have just been released from jail and demanding hafta payments. When the manager refused, the gang members forcefully took Rs 10,000 from the counter and terrorized the store by throwing stones. The gang has been involved in multiple serious crimes, including robbery, extortion, attempted murder, rioting, illegal weapon possession, public property damage, assault, and public intimidation.

Senior Police Inspector Vijay Kumbhar sent a proposal for MCOCA charges against the gang to Additional Commissioner Praveen Patil, through DCP (Zone 2) Smartana Patil.

The Kamble gang has demonstrated organized terror through their involvement in numerous crimes. In response, Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr has taken decisive action against the gang, marking the 34th MCOCA case in the city. This has helped instill fear among criminal gangs. MCOCA makes it difficult for gang members to get bail for minimum six months.
