Pune: PMC Demolishes 34 Wadas In Dilapidated Conditions, 54 More To Be Demolished
Pune 8th July 2023: The Pune Municipal Corporation has already started demolishing the old Wadas that are lying in dilapidated condition and are dangerous for people to live. So far the civic body has demolished 34 such structures this year and 54 more have been marked dangerous which will also demolished soon. PMC has acquired a total of 42,540 square feets of land by demolishing these structures.
The PMC surveys old wadas located in the city limits every year before monsoon and those which are dangerous for the citizens living in it or nearby are demolished as per the process to ensure that such structures do not fall during the monsoon and cause problems to citizens living nearby.
The civic officials have so far surveyed 2,232 wadas located in the city areas mainly peth areas and the number of such structures is likely to reach 2,500 as the civic body continues its survey.
