Pune: Man Claiming To Be ‘Mathadi Transport Association President’ Extort Money from Truck Drivers, Arrested

Pimpri Chinchwad 5th July 2023: The Pimpri Chinchwad Police have booked a 25-year-old youth for threatening and extorting money from a truck driver in Kalewadi area. The accused identified as Sagar Bansode (25) has been booked by police following a complaint by a truck driver.

According to the complaint, the accused stopped trucks near Jyotiba Nagar in Kalewadi area on Tuesday and threatened the truck drivers demanding extortion of Rs 10,000 each. He informed the complainant that he is a president of ‘Mathadi Transport Association’ and no material can go out without paying him money from the area.

The accused also tried to assault the truck drivers but they managed escape. However, he iron rod hit on the truck due to which the truck was damaged. He also took Rs 1,000 cash the complainant had in his wallet.

A case in this regard has been registered at Wakad Police Station under sections 392, 385, 341 and 427 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The accused has been arrested and the police are investigating further in the matter.
