Kothrud, 4th July 2023: An incident has come to light where a teacher has been accused of verbally abusing and physically assaulting a student.

The Kothrud police have registered a case against the concerned teacher following a complaint filed by Manoj Shriram Yawalkar (52), a resident of Chinchwad, Pune. The incident occurred on 2nd July at Bhusari Colony in Kothrud.

According to the complaint, Yawalkar’s 12-year-old son was in class under the supervision of the accused teacher. During a break, the boy went to use the bathroom, and his friend closed the door from outside as a prank. When the boy knocked on the door seeking to be let out, the teacher, in a display of inappropriate behavior, responded with verbal abuse, saying, “I will teach you some manners. You are not clever, but rather a slumberer.” The teacher brandished a rod, threatening to hand the student over to the police, and struck him on the arm.

Deeply concerned for their child’s well-being, the parents promptly approached the police station to file a complaint against the teacher. The case is currently being investigated by Police Sub-Inspector V Pande.
