No More Queues: Pune Residents Embrace Online Payments For Electricity Bills, Pay Rs 1203 Crore To MSEDCL

Pune, 3rd July 2023: A significant 65% of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) customers now prefer the convenience of online electricity bill payment, showcasing the growing popularity of this one-click service that aligns with modern lifestyles.

Over the past three years, there has been a remarkable 35% increase in consumers choosing to pay their electricity bills online. Presently, an average of 11 million electricity consumers securely and conveniently settle bills worth Rs 5750 crore each month from the comfort of their homes. Gone are the days of queuing at bill payment centers or rushing to pay bills during office hours. MSEDCL offers a seamless online bill payment facility that is available 24/7.

Customers can access this service through the website www.mahadiscom.in or the “Mahadiscom Mobile App.” This user-friendly platform allows the payment of multiple electricity bills from a single registered account, provides monthly bill details for all connections throughout the year, and offers the convenience of saving payment receipts on a computer or mobile device. Additionally, customers with bills above Rs 5,000 can opt for RTGS/NEFT payments, with the necessary bank details printed on the electricity bill.

All high-pressure category consumers of MSEDCL consistently pay their electricity bills online, contributing to the total online recovery amount of INR 575 billion from 11 million customers across high-pressure and low-pressure categories. In Pune circle alone, 2.28 million consumers have paid the highest electricity bills amounting to INR 1203 crore. Following closely, 1.9 million customers in Kalyan circle have settled bills worth INR 725 crore, and 1.73 million customers in Bhandup circle have paid a total of INR 1005 crore online. Baramati has witnessed 1.068 million consumers paying bills worth INR 519 crore, while Nashik has seen 1.053 million consumers settle bills amounting to INR 469 crore online.

MSEDCL provides customers with a total discount of 1.25% for online electricity bill payment, with an additional 0.25% discount for timely payments within a monthly limit of INR 500. Notably, all options for online bill payment, except credit card payments, are free. Customers with low-pressure connections can conveniently settle their bills from the comfort of their homes using the secure and user-friendly online service.
