Tourists Beware: Multiple Honey Bee Bite Cases Reported At Sinhagad Fort Pune, Precautions Advised

Pune, 18th June 2023: Sinhagad Fort witnessed several incidents of honey bee bites today, causing concern among visitors and authorities. Two individuals, who suffered minor bee bites, were immediately shifted to private hospitals for treatment. In a separate incident later in the afternoon, two more tourists encountered the same situation, prompting forest officers to take action.

 

Dr. Suryawanshi, THO Haveli, highlighted the incidents, stating that the affected area within the fort has been marked as prohibited and is being guarded by two forest staff members. As a precautionary measure, a 108 ambulance was stationed at the fort’s base, and a medical officer from Khanapur was dispatched to the site.

 

Fortunately, no further casualties have been reported thus far. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and maintaining communication with the forest officer in charge of the fort.

 

Ayush Prasad, CEO of Pune Zilha Parishad, expressed concerns regarding the recurring incidents of honey bee bites during the summer months. He urged all tourists visiting Sinhagad Fort to exercise necessary precautions to ensure their safety.

 

Honey bee bites can cause severe allergic reactions in some individuals, making it essential for visitors to remain vigilant while exploring the fort. It is advised to avoid disturbing beehives and to stay away from areas marked as prohibited. Additionally, tourists are encouraged to carry necessary medications and consult medical professionals in case of any bee bite incidents.

 

The authorities are working to minimize the risk by implementing precautionary measures and raising awareness among visitors. As the summer season continues, it is crucial for tourists to remain cautious and follow the guidelines provided by the authorities to enjoy a safe and memorable visit to Sinhagad Fort.
