Pune: Hotel Fire Claims Two Lives In Market Yard, One Worker Undergoing Treatment

Market Yard, 13th June 2023: A tragic incident unfolded at Hotel Rewal Siddhi in Market Yard as a fire broke out, resulting in the loss of two workers’ lives. The incident occurred around 1 am.

 

After getting information, the Fire Brigade Control Room dispatched a fire engine from Gangadham, Kondhwa Khurd, as well as a jumbo water tanker from Headquarters.

 

Upon reaching the spot, the firefighters discovered a two-story building engulfed in flames. They quickly realized that three workers were trapped in the attic, with the shutter locked from inside. Without wasting any time, the firefighters used a boldcutter to break open the shutter and entered the attic equipped with breathing apparatus sets. While simultaneously dousing the fire with water, they managed to rescue the three workers who were in an injured and unconscious state.

 

The workers were promptly transferred to a government ambulance (108) and rushed to Sassoon Hospital for medical treatment. Efforts to extinguish the fire continued, although the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined. The fire originated in the ground floor dormitory, causing significant smoke. Four cylinders were safely removed from the premises.

 

Fire Officers Gajanan Pathrudkar, Pradip Khedekar, Sunil Naiknaware, Tandel Manish Bomble, Mangesh Parbane, and Firemen Digambar Bandivadekar, Chandrakant Gawde, Azim Shaikh were involved in the firefighting operation.

 

The deceased have been identified as Munna Rathod and Sandip. Shashikant Gawli is undergoing treatment.
