Pune: 8% of Students Below Minimum Academic Standard in Maharashtra Class 10 Results, Education Department Takes Action

Pune, 3rd June 2023: Approximately 8 percent of students in the state of Maharashtra have fallen below the minimum academic standard, as revealed by the Class 10 examination results.

In response to this concerning statistic, the education department has taken the initiative to provide business guidance, further education direction, and counseling to these struggling students based on their individual skills starting this year.

Every year, around 1.8 lakh students appear for the 10th examination in the state. The average pass percentage usually stands at 92 percent. However, around 8 percent of students fail to meet the minimum academic requirements.

To address this issue, Education Commissioner Suraj Mandhare has instructed various government and non-government organizations to organize skill-based camps for business guidance, further education, and counseling.

Each District Education Officer (Secondary) will analyze the 10th standard examination results at the secondary level and identify schools where a significant number of students have failed to meet the minimum academic standard. They will compile a district-wise and taluk-wise list of such schools and provide additional support to students with learning disabilities through vocational skill development or other secondary education camps. The directive emphasizes the need to conduct at least one awareness session in each taluka.
