Pune: Farmers Scammed Of Rs 13.82 Crore, Lure Of Turmeric Production Through Vertical Farming
Pune, 28th May 2023: It has come to light that 24 persons were cheated of Rs 13.82 crore. The investigation revealed that the accused lured the investors with the promise of return if they invest in the turmeric production project started through vertical farming technology.
In this regard, a case has been registered against Prashant Zade, a resident of Ambernath, Thane, Rohan Matale, Sandesh Ganpat Khamkar, a resident of Nashik, Jayant Ramchandra Bandekar, a resident of Mumbai, Kamlesh Mahadevarao Oze under the Maharashtra Depositors’ Interests Act. One has lodged a complaint in this regard at the Chaturshringi police station.
The complainant is a farmer from Akola. Through a message on social media, he received information about the company AS Agri and Aqua. Information about the investment scheme was given on the website of this company.
The complainant then contacted the accused Rohan Matale. He inquired about the investment plan. The accused called the complainant to the office at Baner. Matale and Bandekar again briefed him about the plan informing him that they are going to produce turmeric using vertical farming technology. The accused had claimed that their company is number one in the cultivation of agricultural products. The accused had told them that they take the produce of 100 acres in one acre.
In this scheme, the investor has to give his land to the company. Investment has to be made for project construction. After that, the company will give a good return on investment, he said. The complainant had paid Rs one crore to the accused. The accused did not set up the project. After being questioned about this, the accused gave vague answers. After realizing the fraud, he lodged a complaint with the police. The investigation has revealed that the accused cheated 23 people in this manner.
