Pune: Giantz ‘A’, Diego Juniors, Greenbox Chetak move on
Pune, 18th May 2023: Giantz ‘A’ struggled, Diego Juniors ‘A’ had it easy, while Greenbox Chetak scored an odd goal in three victory in the inaugural Aspire Cup Super and First Division football tournament, here at the Dr. Hedgewar ground, Pimpri here on Thursday.
The tournament is being conducted under the aegis of Poona District Football Association and organised by Aspire India.
In the opening match of the day, Giantz ‘A’ posted a 1-0 win after dominating proceedings for most of their encounter.
The all-important goal came deep into the second-half when Rohit Gusain (47th) capitalized on an Adnan Shaikh pass which beat the UKM defence, which Rohit placed home.
Later, Diego Juniors ‘A’v played their hearts out to quell the robust challenge from KP XI.
The winners netted in the opening minute via Shubham Mamapadi (1st) and then went on to capitalize their lead after a defensive error by KP XI ensured Shubham (26th) netted another.
Sitting pretty with 2-0 lead at half-time Diego Juniors added a third goal through John Challa (53rd) to cap off a comfortable win.
The third match, Greenbox Chetak F.C fought off Range Hills Young Boys ‘A’ 2-1.
Pramod Atre (6th) opened the account, before Ankit Devi (24th) doubled the lead. Range Hills pulled one back Aniruddha Chako (53rd).
