Pune Modeling Job Scam Exposed, 23 Victims Cheated of Rs 43.93 Lakh
Pune, 17th May 2023: A disturbing case has emerged in Pune, where unsuspecting youths are being duped through social media advertisements promising lucrative modeling job opportunities with daily earnings of five to seven thousand rupees. The Kothrud police station has registered a case in this regard, revealing that 23 individuals have been defrauded of a staggering amount totaling Rs 43.93 lakh.
The accused in this case are identified as Shraddha Chandrakant Andure and Yogesh Madanlal Mundada from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, along with Jay Pankaj Chavji, Shubham Jayaprakash Pagare, and Anirudh Bipin Rasane from Kothrud.
The matter was brought to light when a young woman lodged a complaint at Kothrud police station. She had come across a social media advertisement promoting job opportunities in the modeling field. The ad enticed make-up artists, hair stylists, and photographers with the promise of high-paying modeling assignments, offering a daily wage of five to seven thousand rupees.
The complainant girl eventually connected with Shraddha Ambure, who informed her that their company had work available but required a certain sum of money. The victim was instructed to pay a subscription fee of Rs 4,425 for three months or Rs 17,000 for two years. Subsequently, a group of young individuals was formed and invited to The Pune Studio, where they were informed that the work would commence from March 21. However, they were later informed that the company was facing financial difficulties, resulting in a failure to secure any assignments.
As news of the fraudulent activities spread, more victims came forward, leading to a total of 23 individuals reporting fraud cases amounting to Rs 43.93 lakh. The investigation is currently being conducted by Assistant Police Inspector Chavan.
