Pune, 17th May 2023: The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has completed the revaluation process for the proposed Ring Road, leading to an increase in land rates in several areas. As a result, project-affected individuals will receive compensation based on the new rates, and the land acquisition process for the project will commence soon.

Under the chairmanship of District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh, a meeting was held on Tuesday at the collector’s office, where MSRDC officials presented the revaluation report. The revenue department will now initiate the actual land acquisition process for the project-affected people in 26 villages of Maval and Mulshi talukas in the first phase.

“The revaluation process for all the villages in the western region has been completed. There is a noticeable difference in the assessed rates compared to the initial assessment, and land prices have increased. As a result, project-affected individuals will receive enhanced compensation,” stated Collector Dr Deshmukh.

The ring road project, spanning 172 km, was undertaken by the MSRDC to alleviate traffic congestion in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. The project involves the construction of a 110-meter-wide road in two phases: east and west. The eastern part will cover 11 villages in Maval, 12 in Khed, 15 in Haveli, five in Purandar, and three in Bhor. The western section will encompass five villages in Bhor, 11 in Haveli, 15 in Mulshi, and six in Maval. The estimated cost of the entire project is Rs 26,800 crores.

During the revaluation process, the MSRDC took into account the purchase and sale transactions of the last five years, considering that the land prices had been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent decrease in land transactions. Some landowners had initially refused to provide land for the project.
