Pune, 17th May 2023: Pune residents wasted no time in responding to the initiative taken by the municipal corporation’s property tax department to make property tax bills available online. Within just two days of the online availability, Pune residents swiftly deposited a staggering Rs 16 crore into the Pune municipal corporation’s treasury. The first day witnessed the online release of property tax bills for 7,60,000 tax holders.

Following Maharashtra state government’s approval of a 40 percent tax exemption, which addressed pending concerns, the PMC commenced the online availability of property tax bills on May 15. Pune residents were quick to embrace this digital convenience and promptly made online payments.

On Monday alone, citizens contributed a remarkable Rs 8 crore 48 lakh towards their property tax payments. On Tuesday, the total amount collected from property tax payments reached Rs 16 crore 74 lakh, said Ajit Deshmukh, the Head of the Taxation and Collection Department.

The Pune municipal corporation plans to make all property tax bills available online in the coming days, ensuring seamless accessibility for residents. Additionally, the bills will be sent to citizens by May 31.

Deshmukh has also urged property holders assessed from 2019 onwards, as well as citizens from newly merged villages, to fill out the PT (Professional Tax) form at the nearest zonal office or with the assistance of a tax inspector before November 15.
