Pune: Farmer Saved Five Girls Drowning In Khadakwasla

Haveli, 15th May 2023: Four girls and one woman out of seven went to swim in the Khadakwasla Dam in the limits of Gorhe Khurd village and drowned. The girls were saved by a brave farmer. The name of the farmer is Sanjay Sitaram Matale (60), a resident of Gorhe Khurd, Haveli.

Sanjay Sitaram Matale, who had come for some ritual, suddenly heard a loud scream. As Matale ran towards the sound, he saw the girls drowning in the water.

Without caring for his life, Sanjay Matale jumped into the water. By then, Rajendra Jori, Kalidas Matale, Shivaji Matale, and Ramesh Bhame had come to the shore to help. Matale brought the four girls and one woman who were unconscious after drowning in the water one by one to the shore.

Sanjay Matale was bringing the drowned girls to the shore and Rajendra Jori, Kalidas Matale, Shivaji Matale, and Ramesh Bhame were trying to remove the water from their stomachs. Sanjay Matale bravely swam out five people and the others saved their lives by giving first aid and admitting them to Khanapur for immediate treatment.

Sanjay Sitaram Matale said, “As soon as I heard the screams, I ran and jumped into the water. Some people came after me to help. I pulled five of them out of the water unconscious and gave them to those who were waiting on the bank, but I was not able to save two girls.”
