Pune Law Student Dies By Suicide Over Unpaid Loan Friend In Which He Mediated

Pune, 11th May 2023: A law student’s life came to a tragic end after a loan dispute turned fatal. Allegedly, the student assisted a friend in obtaining a loan of Rs 50,000, which was not repaid, ultimately leading the distraught student to take his own life.

The incident occurred on May 9th at approximately 6:30 pm in a hostel located in Gokhalenagar.

The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Raj Raosaheb Garje, a student hailing from Patsara in Ashti, Beed district. A case has been registered against Nirupam Jaywant Joshi in connection with the incident, based on a complaint filed by Raosaheb Garje at Chatushringi police station.

According to the police, Raj was pursuing a law degree at a prestigious college. Several days earlier, he had facilitated Nirupam in securing a loan of Rs 50,000 from a friend. As the lender began demanding repayment, Raj reached out to Nirupam to discuss the matter. Unfortunately, Nirupam did not respond. Fed up by the mental anguish caused by this situation, Raj tragically took his own life in the hostel on May 9th.

Assistant Police Inspector Santosh Koli is currently investigating the matter.
