Pune, 3rd May 2023: Pimpri-Chinchwad city is set to undergo a massive property survey using drone technology. The project, which is set to cost Rs 47.95 crore, has been awarded to M/s Architectural Consultants India Pvt. Ltd. The firm will be responsible for conducting a survey of all properties within the city, identifying additional assets, changes in use, and new properties.

The primary source of income for the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is property tax, with approximately 5,97,785 properties currently registered within the city limits. However, the number of properties is steadily increasing, and it has been discovered that many individuals do not register their properties in the municipal registry.

Previous surveys conducted by PCMC in 2013 and 2021 have identified 35,000 and 21,000 new properties, respectively. Despite these efforts, it is believed that there may be more than one lakh unregistered properties in the city.

To address this issue, the municipality has decided to conduct a property survey using drone technology for the first time. The survey will be conducted by M/s Architectural Consultants India Pvt. Ltd., and the duration of the project is set to be three years. The survey will identify all unregistered properties, which will subsequently be brought under the tax purview of the municipality.

The use of drones will allow the survey to detect any changes made to properties, including additions, alterations in use, and the construction of new properties. The survey will add to the income of the municipal corporation and will also help to number all properties, making it easier to locate them in the future.
