Pune: Shopkeeper and Towing Van Worker Clash in Hadapsar Area Over Parked Bike

Hadapsar, 1st May 2023: A shopkeeper and a worker on a towing van of Pune traffic police had a clash in the Hadapsar area over a petrol-leaking bike parked in front of the shop.

Ramesh Barai, the shop owner, had parked his bike and was inspecting it when the towing van arrived to lift the bike. The worker on the van attempted to lift the bike, which infuriated Barai. An argument ensued, and Barai threw a brick at the worker in a fit of rage. The altercation was captured on CCTV footage and circulated on social media.

During the incident, a female police constable was present in the towing van, but she remained a bystander. Barai has demanded action against the workers on the towing van.

The incident highlights the ongoing complaints against the towing van company, which has been contracted by the Traffic Department to tow vehicles parked on the road on even-odd dates.

There have been complaints from motorists against the workers on towing vans who have been accused of abusing motorists.

The police are investigating the incident, and action will be taken against those found to be at fault. The Transport Department has been urged to review the towing van company’s contract and address the complaints raised against its workers.
