Pune: Nearly 15,000 Citizens Updated Aadhaar Cards Under Campaign Organized By District Administration; Satara Leading In District
Pune, 28th April 2023: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has ordered to update of the Aadhaar cards issued ten years ago. Accordingly, the Aadhaar cards of nearly 30 lakh citizens in the district were yet to be updated. Therefore, the Aadhaar cards of 15,000 citizens have been updated under the special Aadhaar updation campaign launched by the district administration.
The Center started the work of updating Aadhaar in March. Only 4,226 people updated their Aadhaar cards in the first phase of the campaign by the district administration. After that, 276 Aadhaar machines were made available in the district. Through it, special camps were organized on government holidays to which citizens also responded well. As a result, 14,965 people in the district updated their Aadhaar cards between the 1st to 22nd of April.
The campaign has received a good response at the Pune division level as well and the work of updating has been vigorously undertaken in all the five districts. District administration informed that Satara district has taken the lead in this and reportedly maximum of 17,570 people have updated their Aadhaar cards. Satara was then followed by Pune and the lowest Aadhaar card update work has been done in Kolhapur at 7,801.
The work of updating the Aadhaar card is going on continuously and the district coordinator of Aadhaar Rohini Akhade, appealed to the citizens who had issued Aadhaar cards ten years ago to update the same. A special Aadhaar card update camp will be organized in the district on the 29th, 30th of April, and 1st of May.
