Pune, 27th April 2023: The girders required for the bridge to be built to connect NDA and Bavdhan at Chandni Chowk have been prepared. The installation work will also start in the next few days. A 150-meter-long and 32-meter-wide bridge will be constructed through nine girders.

80 per cent of Ramp Three and Ramp Seven connecting this bridge have been completed. The remaining work will be done after the bridge is built and ready. But since it will take at least two more months, the opening of the bridge in May will be postponed.

17 km long roads were constructed in Chandni Chowk at a cost of Rs 397 crores. Underpasses and eight new ramps have also been constructed at two places to avoid traffic congestion. An earlier bridge that obstructed the dilemma was demolished. Reportedly, the new bridge is bigger than the old one. Therefore, care has been taken to avoid traffic jams even if the number of vehicles increases.

This bridge connecting Bavdhan-NDA is 150 meters long and 32 meters wide. The earlier bridge was 50 meters long and 20 meters wide. The length and width of the bridge have increased as compared to earlier. Also, the pillar of the old bridge was coming in the middle of the road and it was becoming a hindrance to the traffic.

Iron is not used in the making of bridges. Steel scrap, prestressed concrete, and to some extent fiber have also been used which will make the bridge stronger. Pillars are used at the beginning and end of the bridge.

From Mulshi and Bavdhan, the number of vehicles going towards Warje, and Satara is more. Ramp No six was constructed for this purpose. With the completion of this work, traffic has started from this ramp. This will help to reduce the traffic congestion to some extent.

Sanjay Kadam, Project Director of, the National Highways Authority (NHAI) said, “The work on the new bridge is progressing rapidly. The work of lifting pillars in the side area of NDA Chowk is in progress. The bridge will be constructed and ready in two months.”
