Pune: Actor Sayaji Shinde Interacts With Citizens Protesting River Bank Improvement Scheme And Proposed Vetal Tekdi Road
Pune, 26th April 2023: Actor Sayaji Shinde, founder of Sahyadri Devrai, visited Bund Garden and Vetal Hill to interact with citizens who are strongly protesting the River Bank Improvement Scheme and the proposed road from Bal Bharati to Pound Phata.
Shinde was briefed about the ongoing river rejuvenation work and the proposed road through Vetal Hill. In his statement, he suggested that the administration should take the public into confidence while implementing any project and expressed regret over the loss of biodiversity due to excessive cutting of trees.
Shinde also confirmed that a meeting with Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar will be held next week to decide whether trees along the river bank at Bund Garden should be cut down and whether a road should be made by breaking Vetal Hill.
He discussed environmental movements in Maharashtra, new methods of tree plantation, administration and the role of citizens with the members of the Vetal Hill Rescue Committee, promising to support them in any way he can. Prajakta Diwekar, Sachin Bahirat, Sushma Date, Paresh Lodha, Angad Patwardhan, Avanti Gadgil, Harshvardhan Ranade, Sagar Shinde, Rajkumar Khodke, and Shubham were present at the event.
