Pune: Woman Loses Hearing In One Ear After Assault By Neighbour

Kondhwa, 20th April 2023: A 38-year-old woman was assaulted by a man after her car grazed the gate of his house. Both the woman and the man reside at Supreme Heights, Salunke Vihar Road, Kondhwa. The incident was captured on a CCTV camera.

An FIR has been registered against Vishwas Bhapkar, who is also a resident of the society, for offences under Sections 354 (outraging the modesty of a woman), 354D (stalking), 352 (punishment for assault or criminal force otherwise than on grave provocation), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), based on the woman’s complaint.

According to the police, the woman works with a private bank and lives with her parents in the same society. Bhapkar, who is into real estate business, had been residing in the society with his family since last year, and he had been arguing and threatening her and other society members from the parking lot.

On the day of the incident, at around 5:30 pm, the woman was parking her car when it grazed the gate of Bhapkar’s house. She apologized, but he reportedly slapped her. When she confronted him, he grabbed her hand and again slapped her. He also allegedly pushed her hard and pressed her chest, causing her to lose hearing in her left ear, according to the complaint.

The woman claimed that the accused had threatened her and said that he was not afraid of anyone, and that she could lodge a complaint if she wanted.

The complainant went to the police station and filed a complaint after the incident. Police arrested him and he was released on bail.
